Olympic TV Coverage

After spending several days up at Jay Peak and watching the Canadian coverage of the Olympics on TV I couldnt belive the completely different styles of coverage. The Canadian stations would show events in thier near entierty while US networks show Olympics for people with ADD, showing 5 minutes of luge followed by a 1/2 hour of skating then 15 minutes of skiing. All broken up by 5 minute commercial breaks.Rinse and repeat.
When it came to stories the Canadian channels would focus on who won the race rather than who dropped out or hooked a gate.
Our network coverage could be covered by Jerry Springer, baiting Bode into attacking Ted with his chair!
I watched an interview with Ted the day after he won the Combined and he made a reference that he wasnt feeling well. The lady interviewing him immediately assumed he meant that he had been out drinking and thats why he felt poorly. After a couple references to partying he very coolly said what was making him sick needed antibiotics, not sleep and Tylenol. You could see the look of  on the reporters face.
It just seems that our coverage is closer to a soap opera than a sporting event.
My 2cents.

OMG your so right. I've been waiting all day to watch the men's crosscountry freestyle. They start, cut to commercial within 10 minutes and guess what? Commercials end and we're 50 minutes into the race. This is a real turn off.

I agree. After watching inordinate amounts of figure skating the first few days of the games on NBC while waiting for the few selected runs of skiing I switched to watching on CBC. Now I see all the alpine events live and in their entirety.

Olympic Coverage?

It truly S__ks! Thankfully I have TIVO (DVR) so that I can filter out the crap, and watch the crumbs that they feed us whenever it is convenient for me.

I think Bode's recovery in the GS is just amazing! Watch it in slow motion and he just looks so cool and calm doing 60mph on one ski while the other bounces and bangs around behind him. No drunk could pull that off IMO.

Yep, I not only saw it "live" but since I have it on the DVR I was able to repeat it, and do so in "super-slow-motion." He is incredibly strong and has phenomenal balance. Too bad he clipped the gate.
