It is hit or miss. I have seen them open the weekend before thanksgiving and also 2 weeks after.

Actually it looks like the blew snow up to the top of the valley.

Right. That's the one I meant! The one by the valley double.... My six year old was pretty psyched to see the pics on Facebook.

Jay just annouced they are opening next weekend:

"Play in our snow sooner than later. For the weeknd of November 23rd & 24th, we are opening our doors and spinning select lifts to get that snow monkey off your back. Enjoy Stateside trails including The Jet and Haynes from the The Jet Triple Chair, or warm up those shaky legs on some lower level terrain and supporting trails just off the Taxi Quad. We would also like to welcome beginners early on, by running the Stateside Moving Carpet and surrounding terrain, located above the Mountain Kids Adventure Center (the big red building)."

If any of the "major" players in the Northeast aren't spinning a lift or 2 this weekend its purely from a business decision after the GREAT 60-72hr straight window of snowmaking temps we've had this week! :fangun:

True story. I complained openly to Wildcat at the expo today about thus.

what was their response?

As much as I would like to see Wildcat open this weekend as I'm buying a pass there for the season, I'm fine with skiing other mountains until early December. Prices are reasonable until Thanksgiving and the others have more terrain open.

As long as Wildcat always offers skiing until the end of April, I'm fine with them not being aggressive early season like some other places.

They said that the decision was made because they did not feel that they could offer a quality product.

My interpretation is that it was a business decision. At the bottom line they have a snowmaking budget and system that is mediocre at best.

I bet the ski areas that held off are pretty happy with their decision this morning.Big bad meltout the last 3 days.I'll bet most will be going for it this week.

True. Just think all of the money Cannon wasted blowing this week.:argue:
