Looks like the valley area and maybe where they have the tubing park. They usually blow a huge pile there early season.

Is the valley chair the typical early season offering? (I can't see that on my drive - bummer....!).

I have a nice view of Sunapee from my jobsite, and I have get to see any guns going...).

I think they always try to start at the base because it is a large flat area to cover and needs to have the most snow because it gets the most traffic and melts out the fastest. They never really have a early season offering so to speak. They seem to get a trail or 2 off the top as well as a trail or two in the valley open to get things going.

I heard a rumor that Smuggs is going to do a soft opening a week from this saturday.

This is coming from a soccer buddy who spoke to a Smuggs employee...so who knows but I'm hopeful.

Crotched must have heard about this, as they started blowing today top to bottom. I've never seen them start so early in the season!

They are just doing this for show. There's lots of attention this week due to the Boston ski expo. They are too late to the game during this cold snap to make a serious play. They were just waiting for daylight so that it would show up on the web cam and we'd talk about this.

I saw somewhere they were planning on 11/30. Who knows. I can't wait to put that cheap season pass to use.

Yup, warm up starting tomorrow. Looks like a cold snap middle of next week so they should get serious then.

Could be, I was thinking the same about the weather. Why blow today and not last night? Maybe they're training the new snowmakers that were hired at last weekend's job fair.

This looks like a real serious effort compared to Crotched. From WaWa's Facebook page:

Snowmaking continues tonight in preparation for #wawawinter just 10 days away! Who wouldn't mind if we opened a week early? Ahh, wouldn't that be nice...

It looked like they covered the terrain park trail, but I couldn't quite tell from where I was. Are they usually a player for thanksgiving weekend!

It is hit or miss. I have seen them open the weekend before thanksgiving and also 2 weeks after.

Actually it looks like the blew snow up to the top of the valley.
