Off the top of my head, given the fact that the economics of opening a new large (as in 1500' or greater vertical) area get to be quite cost prohibitive when you factor in permitting, multiple lifts, miles of snowmaking and everything else, it then more than likely would have to be a smaller, feeder hill type mountain that could reopen. You need to realistically have plenty of night skiing and a largish, close population base and an operations model more geared to bus loads of school kids for night skiing programs as much as for local day trip business, and possibly summer operations too.

The 2 currently closed areas that pop into my head that fit those basic parameters would be Powder Ridge, CT and Mount Tom, MA. I know with Powder Ridge, that the summer operations component keeps being brought up when it keeps being mentioned for reopening. Although Mount Tom proved that both winter and summer operations might not be enough to sustain a viable business model either.

Tamarack in Idaho opened in 2004 and has closed (due to bankruptcy) and (partially) reopened since then.
