Resort or Ski Area: Pats Peak

Weather: Cloudy, some drizzle in PM

Conditions: Wet Granular, some Thin Cover

Trip Report: Had a good day at Pats Peak. Coverage was very good on the main parts of the trails, but the areas near the lodge were starting to get thin.

The warmer temps made for some decent conditions...enough to keep the ice away, but not warm enough to make it too sloppy.

Run of the day (for me at least) was Twister...plenty of soft snow and little ice to be found. Coverage on the FIS Race Trail was decent as well...I only went down once, though, because there was some practice racing going on and I didn't want to get in the way.

There was a snow search competition going on, but the crowds were quite low...the valley double was ski on all day and the peak double had at most a 2 minute wait. Cyclone, Duster, and East Wind looked good as well...Cyclone had nice amounts of soft snow on skier's right.

Pats is doing a good job of keeping the trails open, but it's apparent that the warmer temps and NCP have made it a challenge. Hopefully the weather will turn around soon...

 Are you talking about the little run from the lodge to the Peak Double? Otherwise, I'm surprised to hear the words "Thin Cover" used with Pats Peak from my experience. It has been a tough winter and now they are forecasting r%^& for Friday :x

I saw some clear/thin areas at the bottom of Twister/FIS Race Trail in front of the lodge and along the runout (I think the trail is Squall Line).

It wasn't a problem IMO...coverage on the trails was very good considering the weather we've had... :-?

Nashoba had no cover in front of the lodge a week ago last Friday...the ski racks were on bare ground.
