Resort or Ski Area: Pats Peak, NH
Conditions: Manmade packed powder, some scraped areas, moguls on Upper FIS Race Trail, Hurricane, and the upper portion of the Vortex and Peak double lifts.
Trip Report: Got to Pats around 5:30, went to get my lift ticket (with AZ discount), and made it out to the Peak Triple lift a little before 6. Spent the next 2 hours mostly doing laps on the blue and single black trails (East Wind, Duster, Cyclone). Twister was only open for racing so I didn't get to go down it. I took one run down FIS Race Trail but the top portion had a lot of moguls. I have to get my turns down better before I can handle moguls with any grace...after going down that run in survival mode I knew that Hurricane would be a disaster for me so all I could do was watch from the lift.
There were a few scraped spots here and there but there was plenty of manmade packed powder sweetness...in addition, even though the lodge was a bit crazy with the school groups, I think most of the kids were over in the Valley area because the main mountain was not crowded at all. There were no lift lines on the Vortex double and the Peak triple.
All in all it was a really good night to get some additional mileage. Getting forward enough on the skis still seems to elude me but I guessing one of these days it will just click...
