Plattekill Mountain, February 11, 2007:

Introduction: Got up there at around 8, but the lifts weren't working until 9 anyway.

Weapon of Choice: Option Supercap 149

Conditions: The Face had a little powder on top of some tiny bumpy moguls early on in the day on the right side, which turned into bigger moguls as the day went on. Left side was groomed, as was Powder Puff and Sundown. Northface was groomed as well and was a little slick before it warmed up. Took a few runs on Northface, The Face, and Sundown before I had to teach my first lesson at around 11 I think. Met up with a ski instructor- in training and his friend (both snowboarders), and explored the closed trails on the left side of the mountain. AMAZING!!! The 'Switchback' trail was full of powder (and a few roots and sticks), and Ridge Run and all the tiny little trails off of it were the same. Really fun stuff, better than the groomers by a long shot. We took some runs over there then I had another lesson to instruct at one. Met back up with them and took a run down Sundown, and a run down The Face. Back over to the left side and the tiny closed trails until last run, great day!

Weather: Cold early on but got really warm and sunny about midday, then cooled down in the afternoon.

Lifts: No waits at all.

Notes: Amazing runs on just about every closed trail, the opened ones were getting pretty skied off... Sorry it's a quick report I need to go off to work at my real job...

Rating: 8/10

Conclusion: Closed trails were really fun, quite warm around midday.
