We went up to Plattekill on Thursday and had a so so ski day. I had bought the tickets online, so I was locked in to going. We had a shaky start with my older son taking a bad fall in the woods off of Powder Puff. The flip side was my younger son was digging the "jumps" in the terrain park and the biggest bonus was my older son left his jacket upstairs at the bar! So naturally we had to go back up and get it!
Yesterday was a flex ticket day, so we weren't the only car heading up 28 past Belleayre. We got there at 10:00 and the rode double up and lapped Plunge for most of the morning. There was untracked and cut up pow on the sides that skied really well .The trees off to the sides were fun to ski until a tree branch got the better of me- gotta remember to keep my googles down! We started hitting Blockbuster after that and it a nice bump line was forming on the left side. This quickly became my son's favorite trail. We called it a day at 2:30 after my legs had turned into rubber.
I was surprised how many people came out to ski on Sunday- actually how many good skiers. Lots of older dudes sporting beards, carhartt's and corduroys- very cool. My son ranked it in his top five ski days and I have to agree. Glad he left his jacket behind Thursday and we got to enjoy the goods.

They reported getting 10 inches Friday and when I called Fri afternoon they said it hadn't changed over . I think it snowed Saturday night also. I was surprised there were some fresh tracks to be had. I guess everybody hit Platty Sunday and not Saturday. It's all good.

I was there Sunday too (my first time at Plattekill), and fell in love with Blockbuster. The top part is pretty steep, and the moguls were just beautifully formed. A nice challenge. Then the bottom part was less steep and great for mogul practice. Loved it.
