Plattekill decided to open up Tuesday for a "Powder Daize". With $35 tickets and 14 inches of fresh it was a no brainer - I'd head up and ski a half day. I got there at 10:30 and the woman in guest services said I was the 25th person to come ski today. Me and 24 other people- unreal! Bluebird skies and the temps climbed into the 30's under a warm sun.
Started out slowly by hitting Ridge run down to Cliffs. Then I moved over to Plunge, Giant Slalom, Freefall and North Face. The snow was heavy- you really had to work for your turns. I found myself in the chop doing more of an gs type turn- hard to keep the skis together. I was skiing solo (boys at school) so I was reluctant to hit the trees. Lots of nice lines and everybody hooting and hollering in the woods.
I spent the rest of the day lapping Face. There was more untracked snow here along the edges and the bottom half under the lift. The sun was warm and the snow was deep- a truly awesome snow daize!
