What a difference a day makes.
Made pm turns at Hunter on Thursday...many runs were frozen hardpack. Good to have sharp edges. In fairness, while the sun was out everything skiied well and the east side of the mountain was in fine shape with much manmade powder. But once the sun disappeared anything that was hardpack almost instantly froze solid. Best news of the day was the snowmaking assault on K-27.
Today's pm turns were far and away the best of the season. Got out on snow about 12pm and headed straight to K-27. And there I stayed for the next 2 hours. The guns continued to blast away even as I left for the day. At about 2pm I met up with 180 and friends who instantly wanted me to head over to the freestyle area. I was baffled until I gazed upon the new bump course area over on Chicken Ridge. So now we alternated K-27 with 42nd Street (which was soft manmade) and then finished off each run with the bump course.
What an awesome day. The snowmaking machine continues to crank. Clairs is getting blasted...it was frozen sheets on Thurs but blissful powder this afternoon. Upper Crossover is getting the love again. K-27 will be accumulating all night long. Plus 3-6 on top of all that.
Go get it!
