Pocumtuck Mountain (Charlemont), MA
Date Hiked: 10/21
Trails(s) Hiked: (Abandoned) South Catamount Hill Road to unknown abandoned road
Total Distance: ~6 miles
Difficulty: Moderate
Conditions: Clear, windy
Special Required Equipment: None
Pocumtuck is a not so well known hike in Franklin County, MA that has excellent views to the south and west. Most of the land is part of the Catamount State Forest (named after the abandoned section of Colrain it encompasses), a mostly unmaintained area - there are no trail signs or markers. Due to this, it's a very remote hike (you may be further out in the boonies on the Long or AT, but those trails are heavily used - not Pocumtuck).
Looking west at (L to R) Borden Mountain, Mt. Greylock, and Crum Hill, from the cliff just south of the Pocumtuck summit
