2006 Trip Report #: 50!!!!!

Resort: Burke Mountain

Conditions: MG/FG. Ice on ungroomed trails.

Weather: Cold, winds out of the NW. Highs in the low 20’s maybe! Sun and clouds.

Trip Report: Well, not much to write about regarding skiing. Today was a social day with the benefit of some skiing. Met the usual suspects and hit Dippers/Powderhorn to find starched corduroy. After inspecting the pavilion, we headed down and up for another spin. I hit East Bowl and found sunshine and nice, fast snow. Some debris on the trail from the trees…but nothing major. Less wind and a nice fast ride down. The crew did another spin down Dippers.

We rendezvoused in the Lodge and mobilized the forces for the party. I was a Sherpa for two runs…first moving the grill (skied down Carriage Road) and then my bag.

The skiing took an intermission for a great party…with many in attendance and the usual mischief.

Thanks to the original trailboss for a wonderful party! Thanks to everyone for a wonderful time!

At some point we all began to freeze, so it was off to pond skimming. I watched for about an hour before heading back up. Did a spin down Upper Warren’s (nice) and Camper’s Carry to Willoughby and Lower Bear Den (OK, but icy). After the contest was done, I headed down to the bottom to hit those runs. Nice and fast.

Picked up a T-shirt on super sale and skied two more on top…Dippers and then Warren’s Way to McHarg’s.

Cleaned up and watched the groomers work their magic:

Fast and cold today folks. Trees and bumped runs are a mess…solid ice…but we have two weeks to thaw them out…just not too fast I hope.
