Reading all of these perspectives is interesting! I am a fan of the HSQ at Burke - huge improvement. However I have also noticed that the trails are scrapped off earlier in the day unless it is snowing. I can see how some of you will defend Fixed Grip since it preserves the trails for all to use all day (for the most part). We have skied Smuggs once and personally, I think I spent more time in lift lines then I did on the chairs and actually skiing!

A lot has to to with the conditions, temps, number of skiers and resort size. For example, Saddlebacks chairs were killing me on a day where we had good snow but temps dropped really low near zero! We were cooling down too much between runs (freezing). I do not mind chillin' on a slower chair in the spring but on the coldest of days well - give me a HSQ. An example of that - we were at Waterville on Sunday the lift line for White Peak Express was crazy long - we opted for the lift combinations to the right and left of that which took us a little longer to reach the top but it was OK it was 45 and sunny!
