I KNOW that if I posted a picture of my father in law, a retired professor and former chair of the College of General Studies at Boston University, that his would fit right in with all of those others! LOL

It also allows one with a Ph. D. in ornithology(yup, birds  ) to have a well paying job in academia while having to deal over and over with the athletic department and their hockey players trying to maintain academic eligibilty ;) And i'm pretty sure I heard my F-I-L just before he retired a few years ago saying soemthing about how the CGS at BU should have a major in "Newburry Street Shopping" since that seemed to be the best "talent" that so many of the students there had ;)

Gotta love tenure!

Till "they" cut the specific program due to insufficient enrollment or excessive cost -- happens quite frequently since the mid 90's . The "other " strategy OFTEN used is NOT replace and fill only with adjuncts who are neither paid well or have bennies and in some cases are bright BUT can't teach for diddily-- just sayin

In my opinion, Coloring Book School (College of Basic Studies before they renamed it) was a brilliant money maker for John Silber. You pay full boat tuition to attend a "name" private school. You use cheap grad students and nontenured instructors as your staff. At the country club in Great Neck, you get to say your daughter is attending Boston University. You hopefully get her married off to somebody in the BU Medical School.
