Rafting in Maine

I'm looking for some feedback on whitewater rafting trips and companies in maine. Particularly on the dead and the kennebec. There seem to be quite a few companies and i'm looking for one that will be fun for a group of guys as part of a bachelor party trip  . (We are not however going to be obnoxious crazies :argue: :puke: ) A few of us have rafting experience, and all of us are capable watermen. We will probably be spending one night at where ever the place is but plan on doing some hiking out of the pinkham notch area either before or after the river. Any advice would be very welcomed. hope to hear from you all.

A bunch of us here at work just booked with this company. The guy that arranged it uses them for his trips. We are doing the Dead this year, Aug 15.

I always have used Northern Outdoors and we always have done the overnighter on the Kennebec. Get a group together and go it's awesome. They are really good people and the guides are a blast! They even let you take a cooler along for the end of the day beer, soda, whatever you like.

We had fantastic experiences many years in a row with Unicorn Expeditions on the Kennebec, Dead, and Penobscot. They had knowledgeable, fun guides; well-planned, enjoyable trips; and in recent years, new, excellent facilities.

The founder recently retired and Unicorn was acquired by Three Rivers Whitewater, however, and I cannot predict what it will be like now.

thanks so far

thanks for the tips so far, I really appreciate them. As far as the hiking goes it will be either on the days before or after, not that day, sorry for the confusion. We have a place in n. conway, so it makes $en$e to do it that way. glad to hear that there haven't been any bad experiences yet, thats was what make me nervous. i.e. getting a really lame or ill prepared company.
