Took my 7 year old to Ragged on Saturday-it was our first time out in 2 years. Rental line(for son only) was fast and well organized. It took NHSon a couple of hours to get back to the level he was at when we last went out. The triple at the beginner's area was a nice way to get back up the mountain quickly, no lines. The operator at the top was very friendly, commented on how my son was getting better each time we unloaded. Took our first trip up the Spear triple to take down the one green trail. It was a little steeper at points than I thought it would be, but once you're up there it is the only option for someone with limited experience. Took the Six Pack, wanted to try the Easy Winder as I've sen it on here described as a nice long, flat trail. Only at the top do you find out there was only two ways to get to Easy Winder - via a black diamond trail or skiing down a very steep and short drop through an area labeled 'advanced skiers only'. Very disappointing.

Lines were very short to non-existent all day. Snow conditions were excellent. Lunch time in the lodge was busy but could still find seating. Overall a good experience but I think next time out I'll concentrate on an area with slightly more green trails until he's ready to really hit the blues and then we'll come back.

I think for a true beginner, Ragged isn't the best place to go. Your son would probably have more fun at Pat's Peak, or maybe the beginner area at Sunapee.
