Resort or Ski Area: Ragged Mountain

Conditions: Powder, Packed Powder

Trip Report: Ragged got about 8-10 inches of heavy snow. While it isn't the easiest to turn in, it made for a great base. Many trails such as Exhibition under the lift were bumping up. Pel's Pass second run to Stinky Slide... very nice glade. We also did a few other stashes in the woods on other parts of the mountain and there was some deep powder to be found there! We cut through the woods to Joe's Ravine and there was only one set of tracks beside ours there; the glade is a bit flat in places and since it warmed up it got sticky.

Overall conditions are great there now; get up there if you can... who knows what may happen next season there.

I was also there on Sat with my wife and son. They were on skiis and struggling with the powder. I was on a snowboard loving every minute. Best day of the season for me!!! We stayed on the easier trails on the other side of the mountain. I was still finding sections of untracked powder up until 1pm. I only saw a hint of grooming on a couple of trails- I kept thinking this is how Mad River Glen must be like. My pick of the day was Pines, a sheltered trail which was buried in powder with small to medium bumps. I talked with a season pass holder who said Sat was the first good day all season! Too bad, because the place has lots of character. It will be a shame if this place closes.
