Resort or Ski Area: Ragged Mountain Resort
Conditions: Corduroy with 1/2" of natural
Trip Report: I have to admit I wasn't expecting all that much today. I even thought of canceling and going to work. What a mistake that would have been. Even though it rain most of the night the top 3/4s of Ragged got a fair dusting of actual snow!
Skiing down Upper and Lower Chute was kind of nice with a bit of soft snow on top of the cord but as we neared the bottom it turned into a chattering - well nightmare is too strong - maybe just not pleasant would be the way to describe it. So we headed over to Spear.
Riding up Showboat looked nice so I convinced my friend to try it. IT WAS FANTASTIC!! About a full inch of natural snow on top soft corduroy skied like a dream. We took two more runs on Showboat before trying Flying Yankee and that was equally nice. By noon the fresh snow was completely tracked but the frozen cord was softening up. About 1:30 school bus loads of kid arrived so we stopped around 2. Those runs on Showboat, though, are gonna carry me through the rest of the season - provided it doesn't snow again - but I still have hope.
