It's not what you think .. my daughter had pet rats growing up. Rats can be soft, cuddly and friendly when raised as pets.

And disease spreading vermin when they're not.

Ironically, at my parents' house for Christmas yesterday, my mother was telling stories of rats in the toilet back when they lived in Puerto Rico (Ramey AFB). They'd climb down the stack from the roof.
