The Schaefers should probably stretch themselves out more.
Have you noticed anything at Berkshire East, Catamount, or Bousquet that indicates they are over-extended ? They seem pretty well run to me. If I understand the deal correctly, they will be getting paid to operate Burke and they will not be putting any of their own money into the purchase.

Tripling snowmaking, sure sounds nice.
and (potentially) by next ski season!

I don't know about burke water resources, etc. But even with unlimited money, it seems like these things take time to build out. Permits, etc. Environmental compliance, etc. Say nothing about actually building the system out.

Or are they talking about using the existing system to make 3x the amount of snow?

ive only been to catamount once (this year), and B-East ~2 years ago, but i thought catamount was kind of impressive. those lodges look new and damn nice. and they had wall to wall coverage on every trail while there was no natural snow anywhere nearby...

Since I've been on Indy I have take a weekend and hit both spots (Cata and Berk) and stay in Lenox for a weekend with my girlfriend - both mountains are run great and nothing but positive things to say. We were there in Feb when that Ice storm hit and Sunday was suppose to be Berk but we didn't want to drive up north with he storm so we took turns at Bousquet for abt 3 hours before we headed back to Philly area - nice lil small mountain

I guess I just assume people are being sarcastic/snarky :)
Yeah, honestly, I am not sure which way he meant. I know that he has been critical of some of the work that they did at either Catamount or Bousquet. However, when it comes to incompetency, Q takes the prize with building a $50 mill hotel on land that had deed restrictions preventing such construction since the land was "open community space" for the Burke Mountain HOA.

I think Newpy was saying they SHOULD stretch themselves out more because they run ski resorts well or have the cash.

No, I was saying the opposite. Most capital decisions are half baked and it's quite obvious he/they have stretched themselves quite thin. I haven't been overly impressed with the guidance that's being provided to the areas they've consulted on. Of course, I'm in the minority and the success of the areas they own can't be ignored.
