hi. would anybody be able to suggest a remote spot to do some backpacking for 1-2 nights within 3 hours of nyc? looking for a spot not over run with people with either lake or pond fishing. a spot where dogs were allowed would be even better. if anybody knows of a good spot to hike and do some cave exploration too that would be great. thanks!!!

Two or three hours from NYC? Good luck for remote.

Having said that, I'd get more info on Pine Barrens in NJ (in summer don't go on a Friday Night or Saturday from 7AM - 3PM or you can double (at least) your travel time) The Catskills - avoiding the 3500+ peaks will lower the crowds - or parts of the AT in CT & MA. (Upper Goose Pond or Finerty Pond near I-90 crossing of the AT come to mind. How is the fishing in these two places? I don't really know) Unknown what lake & pond fishing is liek in Catskills but some rivers are famous trout fishing destinations. Is Delaware Water Gap within that distance? Good fishing in the Delaware in NY/PA/NJ area
