On Google.

Related, I found this while searching for Everest on Google because I am listing to Into Thin Air in audiobook format. Tremendous, I am having a hard time not plugging in my MP3 player to listen to the last two hours. Great for listening during a drive to go skiing. Lots of audiobooks are a total bore and I have since canceled my Audible membership. I needed to burn up my last credits and I think I made a good selection for once!

Love the book - suggest also reading The Climb by Anatoli Boukreev.
To get his side of the story.

Finished the audiobook last night, oops. :spin:

I did notice his book when I was poking around. I might give it a read. I can see how Boukreev might have felt slighted, he was involved with rescue efforts saving lives and made some brave attempts to get Fischer. And all of Boukreev's clients made it down alive. But I think its all a moot point in arguing over the details. If the lead guides turned everyone around at an appropriate time, no one would have made summit but no one would have died either. I was surprised Krakauer didn't stress this fact even more than he did.

Krakauer didn't have the facts completely straight - wasn't thinking right..
Understandable given his inexperience and the stress on his brain.

I would suggest reading The Climb by Anatoli Boukreev as mentioned above. It will round out the whole disaster given to 2 different point of views.

Into Thin Air is a good read IMO.

The Climb by Anatoli Boukreev... You should definitely read this to round out your perspective.

I read excerpts from Into Thin Air to my son's class back in 6th grade. The part where he Guide From NZ was dying on the South Col and was talking to his pregnant wife back in NZ. I wanted them to see how good non fiction writing can be as dramatic, if not more so, than fiction. My son tells me that it was by far the best thing they heard on that "Parents Read" day, and that the kids still talk about it now, 6 years later. I know a few of the kids in his class were intrigued enough to actually read the book.
