:uzi:Mass. drivers have again risen to a high level of holiday season road rage. I had the privilege of being accosted several times today as the shoppers rushed home with their treasures. It always reminds me why I avoid shopping in December. I keep wishing I was at MRG right now. Not a mall in sight, to say nothing of some mighty fine trails and snow.

I have lived here 27 years and still disassociate myself from the cluelessness. (I even know how to engage and disengage my directional signal, imagine that!)

Driving in Mass. sucks. Not all drivers there are rude and inconsiderate, but there are many. probably gets better as you head west of 128 huh?

On a side note I watched a middle aged guy completly snap on a lady for parking in what he called his space at the grocery store. She looked really scared as he truly looked like he was going to hit her. Several people intervened and finally shut him up. This took place literally 15 feet in front of the person ringing the salvation army bell. This guy needs some valium.

It's like a poison that keeps spreading, You flip someone off and they flip off two people and they flip off two more and so on and so on ....
Maybe we are frustrated at our failure to communicate in a productive manner. Instead of a useful dialog we are reduced to obscene gestures to express our emotions.
Try this exercise, the next time you feel your blood pressure rising, due to the negligent behavior of another motorist.
When someone gives you the finger, cuts you off or is otherwise discourtious..... wave franticly and point at the rear of the vehicle as though it's on fire and gesture that they should pull over immediately, When they do, pull up behind them, adopt a posture of submissive helpfulness and KICK their ASS.

I am a native New Yorker who moved to MA during high school and ended up sticking around for college/husband. It's funny, because I live in MA, work in CT and take many a trip to RI. Everyone I meet in these collective states holds absolutely no hesitation about proclaiming New Yorkers to be the worst drivers they've ever seen, yadda, yadda, yadda. I can see where they are coming from, we NYers do like our horns enough to merit a $250 fine for utilizing them on 5th Ave. However, we don't hold a blatent disregard for the safety of others by cutting the person in front of us off with less than a foot of clearance, or trying to bully our way into a lane by driving directly into the car to the right of us during traffic, or cutting off ambulances, etc.

Really- to those people who think they are the only ones who exist, or are the only ones in a rush- calm down. Take a breath. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. You're not the only person on the road, and you're life isn't going to end if you get home 15 minutes late and miss the beginning of House. That's what re-runs are for. Or Tivo.

One of my best friends is from Trinidad. Skydiving was less nerve-wracking than getting in a car with her.

Here in PA there are tons of bad drivers. The worst are the really old people who shouldn't be driving in the first place. Some of them are so freaking out of it that they stop at intersections where's there's no stopsign.

Another pet peeve of mine is people who are too lazy to use their turn signals. Alot of those people are also the ones driving with their lights off when it's raning/snowing/foggy..in the words of Stephanie Tanner from Full House.."How Rude"..

It's all job security for me :)

TO really experience driving stupidity, you need to spend some time in the cab of a big red truck with flashing lights. I can't even begin to explain some of the foolishness I've witnessed.

Stay calm. Stay safe. It's not worth getting hurt, killed or having your car damaged over. (And besides...I'm busy enough!)
