Just seeded 2 trails at Okemo before the current snow. Lower Ledges and Plunge. Use winch cat to seed them making cuts going down hill full width of blade and cut 2/3's of cut on the way up. Sorry do not have pics or helmet cam but lines came out nice. Enjoy if you get a chance or feel free to critique.

I do wish we had a winch cat for this purpose. Having to do everything free & downhill can be cumbersome in some circumstances.

I've taken to only cutting 1/2 rather than 2/3's lately. Makes bigger bumps. Still cut 2/3's on lower angle stuff, though.

Skied Camelback this past weekend and two trails (Lower Cleo and Rocket) had moguls (natural). While still a ton of fun, I found that I enjoyed the seeded moguls at Blue Mountain (Nightmare) more because it was easier for me to pick a line and do the run top to bottom. Guess I'm getting old. Either way, both varieties are a blast.

Camelback does a little seeding on Lower Cleo to get them started but leaves them alone (aside from blowing on them) after that, Rocket's are indeed natural. I can find t2b lines in both sets. Blue reseeded 4 trails for last weekend (do they knock em down and reseed every weekend ?). Challenge Nightmare (w/kickers) Barney's and Chute. They were huge by the end of the weekend. I agree that the 2 types ski a little differently but don't have a preference as they both are a lot of fun.

Southington deserves a lot of credit, those look really fun. Small mountains can become a blast when they do that sort of thing.

Not sure but my point was more that the southington bumps are super short. definitely nice, but they need to double the length of the course in my opinion.

It's an interesting situation here at Ski Cooper. We do have pretty low traffic density. Also, however, over the past two decades or so, the marketing push had been toward beginners. So our clientele shifted to mostly first timers through intermediates (and we do, in fact, have some of the best learning terrain in the country). As a result, the good mogul terrain that used to exist disappeared. We're shifting our marketing focus, trying to get the word out that there's terrain for all abilities here (even if we don't have the Mary Jane Chutes or the East Wall), and seeding moguls is helping to produce some of that variety until they start forming on their own again. Actually, after the last big storm, some did form on their own. So there is hope!

How did the terrain disappear? Were trails regraded or lifts built over them?

No; because the clientele shifted toward beginner/lower intermediate, the moguls simply ceased to form. But fortunately, things are looking up in that department of late.
