Crazy Rich, my good friend and a patroller at Elk (in the beautiful Endless Mountains) emailed last night with the good news -- we are going to Jackson Hole for the first week of February 2009. Apparently, Rich felt compelled to pull the trigger rather than miss out on a screaming lodging deal. Rich wrote, "I made the executive decision. It's nearly October. I hope you can live with this." Ah well. A man must do . . .

We had a blast with a large croo in late Feb. 2006 and had a perfect long weekend last March with my bros and dad (search "teton idyll" in trip reports) so I am primed.

What is everyone else planning for the year ahead?

No plan, just dreaming...

An perfectly empty slopeside condo is too good to waste.

I'm gonna rent someone's slopeside ski condo Monday through Friday, January through March, maybe April. Must have high speed internet and awesome cell phone service.

breakfast - mac and cheese
6am-8am - Business calls, catch up with Asia and Europe.
9am-12noon - first tracks every day
12noon-12:15 mac and cheese
12:15-8pm business calls with the left coast, paperwork, except Friday when I hit the road back home at 5.
8pm - Dinner - mac and cheese, crash, read AZ.

Weekends - family reunion.

I'm wondering if I could rent those Stowe Cottage-McMansions for $500/week. Maybe they would throw in their unused season pass too....

My winter dream. 4 inches of snow every night, days sunny with temps in the low 20's. One thaw early January to lock in the base and get a day or two winter boating in. April 1st it turns sunny and 60 until the snow is gone.

I'm dreaming of a white turkey day followed by a white xmas followed by 3 months a superb conditions in the 20's with bluebird skis and that i can rip like a 15 yo and have the stamina of a Bull Yak :D

Now we pause from this haze for a touch of reality:
It's teh Right coast man , the East man I'll be grateful for 25-30 days of skiing that at least mirrors this fantasy to SOME degree

Well...NASTAR beer league...hoping to score Gold this year. I was about a second off last year. @ 53...I've got this year and next before I 1) get older and 2) a NASTAR age/handicap bump. Also hope to get a weekend @ the family place in NH....hit Wildcat for three days in a row (next -day discounts).

Also hope to hit Cannon with a ski pal I talk to more than ski with. He goes weekly (mid-week) starting in January. I'm hoping to catch up with him at least once this year.

Also...I had a great day-trip to Stratton last year (mid-week) with a race team pal. I'd love to do that again.

No trips out west. The rest of the fam isn't into it. So I'm on an East coast mid-week day-trip leash.

Speaking of the fam...and season's wishes....my daughter wants to go more this year (so she says)...so I told her to pick a day and that will be the day we ski...all season. Hopefully that gets my wife back into the mood as well. THAT..That would be cool.

Near as I can tell, I'm moving to Killington, collecting unemployment checks until the end of March, and skiing every day. If I land a job before then, I will revert back to weekend warrior.

Plans - ski a ton.

Dream - make it into the second day at the BMMC. Lot of work to do for that one; the plan to ski a ton is key.

Heading to Killington the first week in January for 10 days. We would like to spend a weekend at Windham in February If anyone has any suggestions where to stay pretty close to the mountain that has a pool for around $100 a night, I'm open to suggestions.

Hopefully we'll be back in Killington the week of St Patrick's day. Also hope to ski Blue every other Friday/Sunday.

Whistler-Blackcomb

I've booked a week of skiing at Whister-Blackcomb in February. I plan to ski a lot this winter to be in good shape and get the most of every day of my western ski trip. I met two W/B lift mechanics this summer and they've invited me to tour the new Peak to Peak Gondola and check out their lift operation too

Lots of day trips and hopefully some night skiing (location TBD).

Only plans I have are to head to Northern VT last week of February with my son's scout troop for a "Winter Camping" trip, which will include a day of skiing. I still need to figure out where to go; have to be able to accommodate all skiing levels and keep the non-skiers happy as well.

Plans-ski a TON (mostly at Magic, and some touring) and get my daughter shuffleing on skiis in the spring for the first time (yahoo!)

Big plan is that I'm suprising my wife by taking her out to CO to see some friends and ski A basin, Copper, and Loveland for 4-5 days.. hehe.. I'm trying to keep it a secret.. its sooooo hard though!

Due mostly to a change in school schedule we will not be taking our annual Presidents week trip to Utah this year. That being said we are now looking at the possibility of going on the kids spring break (the 2nd week in April, moved up a week earlier this year then usual).

Plans in the east involve an early Dec trip (maybe Gore or , Stratton or Bromley and Magic depending on snow). Somewhere in NNE MLK weekend. North Conway (Attitash, Cranmore and Black) on the now abbreviated Presidents Week break. Then a Cannon/Wildcat trip in late March.

When not on the road we will make the most of the Pocono house. That means Camelback where we are pass holders but also includes side trips to Elk, and some years Plattekill, and Belleayre.
