Trip Report: Wow! What a day weather wise! Perfect Temps in the 20's, bright sunshine and you could see Mt. Washington as clear as a bell from the Shawnee Peak trails.
We arrived around 9am and had pretty much open lift lines and good snow. All the Greens and Pine Slope off the Quad had good coverage, and we did a couple of Jack Spratt / Riley's Run runs from the summit before lunchtime. My kids - 4th time on skiis, had no problems with the blues. Each time out I have to ski harder and harder to keep up with them. Really proud of them!
After lunch the crowds hit and it was pretty crowded from 12:30 to 2:30 and the trails got scraped off quickly, although you could still find some snow on the edges and they were skiable. We tried another Jack Spratt and that was really icy, so we stayed away from that one for the rest of the day. After 2:30pm the NASTAR racing was over on The Main and that trail still had a lot of snow so we enjoyed a few runs down that one. Finished up with a run down Lower Kancamangus - that trial was kinda slick but a lot of fun. We will have to hit that one earlier in the day next time.
Great day at Shawnee. They could use a good 10" snowstorm to get good cover over all their trials, but the snowmaking and groomers are doing a good job. Lots-o-Fun!
