Resort or Ski Area: Shawnee Peak
Conditions: PP - Windblown Hardpack
Trip Report: Good, but cold day at Shawnee. Decided to go there today instead of more elevation mountain for a bit more forgiving temperatures and a bit less wind. We love Shawnee anyway so its all good.
Snow held up most of the day, thanks to the fairly sparse crowd. The wind and traffic started to takes its toll by 3pm or so.
Place to be today was on the East side, that was pretty sheltered from the west blowing gale. Upper Appalachian, Chickens Delight and Yee Haw all had big snowmaking whales. Kind of fun actually. My favorite trial was tycoon - it was groomed and you could really fly.
We had loads of fun off the Quad and mid-station triple. Best snow of the day was Lower Kancamangus. Sheltered and they made snow on it recently. Ton of fun.
No pics today - too cold to fumble with a camera. By 4PM we were turning into icicles so we called it a day. We never have a bad day at Shawnee. As we were leaving loads of teens and twenty somethings were piling in for Monday night Madness skiing. Brrrr! But fun 4 sure.
