When away on a ski trip what is the 2nd most important thing to you when it comes to accommodations? I know everyone will say it doesn’t matter where they stay; they’re all about the skiing. No doubt, that’s #1, but let’s go down a rung on the priority ladder, what’s after that?

For me it’s having a room of my own (unless I’m with my wife). I don’t sleep well listening to a bunch of guys snoring, farting and other degusting sounds we men make. I sometimes go on ski trips with large groups where having a roommate or 2 is necessary. That’s fine, but given my druthers, I’d choose my own room every time.

Walking distance to a good watering hole?

A cheap, decent hotel works fine in my opinion...just something clean, reasonably quiet, and with a good breakfast in the morning. Being liftside/very close to the ski area is worth paying a bit more for, especially if there is supposed to be a storm.

My own room is also key..when my buddy meets me in Jackson Hole..he snores like crazy and there are also lots of Bozeman Barking Spiders throughout the night...A Jacuzzi is nice..a mini fridge is also nice to eliminate the need for ice to keep the beer cold. I also like a fairly large room to spread my gear out. I also like to be walking/staggering distance from a few bars and if it's a non-flying ski trip, I like places where I can park right outside my room to avoid schlepping my gear too much.

Cleaniness is good but even Mariotts are loaded with Jizz stains everywhere..I saw the 20/20 episode and it was gross..wash your hands after you use the remote or thermostat..eeeeekkk

Own room and walking or public transportation distance from a bar. I'll spring extra for my own room these days, though I didn't always when younger.

That being said, my annual ski trip to Stowe each winter consists of me couch surfing at my old roomates place. That's a no brainer though as its free. If I brought the girlfriend along who doesn't ski, I'd get a room somewhere, but as much as I love her, when I head up there it's to ski and party with the boys.

you said it Hawk... lucky for me my two brothers ride so that helps divide the cost somewhat.

If the place includes a free breakfast..it's got to be early. I've been on ski trips where breakfast is served at 7:30AM and the lifts open at 8:00AM..missing first chair to me is not worth hotcakes and sausage. Being near a bagel place is a big plus for me. Pearl Street bagel was exactly 107 steps from my room at the Antler Innin Jackson and opened at 6:30AM..nothing like have a fresh bagel with cheddar and tomato and some coffee/juice while watching ski movies on RSN TV to get amped for a day on the slopes. On ski trips I wake up uber early..I usually wake up at least 4 times during the night to look out the window and see if it's snowing..

Price, that's why I usually end up at a hostel or dorm.....also proximity to the mountain is extremely important to me.

Hot tube is a must!

Those breath-right strips really work for snoring BTW.

What?? You can't trade skiing time for drinking time:p:p

Agreed, absolutely. It's all about balance. There is a split second while drinking during a ski trip where suddenly each extra minute spent in the bar translates into starting your next morning a minute later. The trick is to know when this time is and go to bed then. ;) Trading bar time for ski time is not worth it usually, but sometimes I lack that good judgment...

Next to good terrain I would say a clean room with good water pressure.
