South Side of Chicago BOOM!
What a Difference from last weekends 60 deg temps, Mother Nature is providing SNOW MAKING TEMPS for the first time this season,
Both Mtn Creek and The Hidden Valley Club have started to make snow!
The guns were lit off late last night And have resumed for this evening.
Every night up to Tuesday look prime for snow making.
I do not know what is going on over at Camp-Ma-Goo in Bergen count as of yet.
Pray For Snow!

Campgaw is making snow too, I saw the snow patches while coming into Newark today. Just checked Hidden Valley's website and it said "Check out our picture of the week. Keep checking our site for our early opening date!" I hope this means they'll open before mid-December.

I drove up to MC today to take a look at the progress they have been making with the snow making weather, and I can say I'm very disappointed. The only snow at Vernon is at the very base of Sugar Slope and a small amount above the super pipe. What's the point? That makes no progress at all. Granite and Bear were completely brown, and South appears to have one run covered.

It's unfortunate, what a waste of good weather. When will MC ever learn? They will never get more than 1-2 trails open on opening weekend, and always struggle to get all their decent terrain going if they waste good snowmaking weather. In jersey you gotta use it while you got it.

An e-mail I got from HV says they are shooting for a 12/6 opening (weather permitting). Also, though not in NJ it's close enough, Mt. Peter in Warwick, NY plans to open on 12/6 also.

Hidden Valley rules! New owners and LOTS of work has been done to the entire resort. It is going to be a GREAT season there.

Go Campgaw! Another great Jersey mountain. Remember to support the small ski areas too.

HV is opening this weekend with "limited terrain", probably means just Chicken Delight. But I'll be there with my son, he can't wait to get on the snow.

I skied HV today with my son, did a bunch of runs down the only open trail - Chicken Delight. The snow was very nice groomed machine made powder, with the cold temps it stayed powdery. It was a fun father - son day.

HV was blowing snow the whole time I was there, 9:30 - 12:30, on the base area, Chicken, Upper Highland Swing, Lower Breakneck and Lower Highland Swing. With the cold temps for most of the week they should have summit to base next weekend.

I also drive past MC on my way to HV and they had lots of guns going on South and Vernon but nothing on Granite.
