Date(s) Skied: Thursday, 12/27/2007, 9:30 pm - 1:50 pm

Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown, New Hartford, Connecticut

Conditions: Mist, light freezing rain, sleet. Soft snow.

Trip Report: This was the first time I skied with my wife for any significant period of time in 6 or 7 years. We started off Tom's and hit a few runs there. Eventually made our way to Canyon and Temptor. I had the opportunity to hit the bumps on Nor'easter a few times and basically every run on the Ex bumps. They were sweet spring bumps today. Great lines and very soft. We took an early lunch a bit after 11 am.

After lunch we met up with Grassi and his wife. The girls seemed to hit it off so Chris and I concentrated on Nor'easter while the girls took Canyon and waited at the bottom. Chris was nailing lines on Nor'easter and Ex. Keep at it! Looking good. The bumps were beautiful today and the snow surface made the dreariness of the day much more tolerable. Great day!

Brian was working. Grumble. Grumble... ;)

Had a blast today. The soft snow made me more confident in holding a longer line. I was able to ski the Ex bumps top to bottom a couple of times. Great confidence builder.

Had a great time skiing with Greg and his wife. Nice to see the girls hit Canyon while we hit NE. The wives seemed content so it was win win all around.

First beer down...

i guess i made a chicken sh*t call by bailing cause of the rain. sucks to be me as it looks like a nice hard set up after it gets cold tonight.

St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout. Number 2 on its way down. Yummy and filling.

Great day. My wife wants to go again soon. She enjoyed hanging out with your wife too, Chris. Nice job on a number of clean runs on Ex. I gotta get going on this beer thing....

Yep. You did. ;)

I learned during a rainy day at Hunter last year that slush bumps in the rain can be great! I was psyched my wife didn't let the rain discourage her.

I'll post my update tonight when I get home. Hitting the road now :spread:

Sweet. I hope they stay soft for you. Still 35 degrees up there so I think you'll get some quality time before they firm up. Let us know how it goes.

Glad you guys had fun. It was nice to meet your wives, if only briefly.

I got out for four runs after I finally got out of work, the bumps were definitely VERY nice. I just wish I had more time to hit a few more runs..

Did you guys see the new "Moguls" signs they put up today? The old grey ones are no more...

As advertised the bumps tonight were like spring mashed potato bumps. Excellent conditions to test out the knee, which held up pretty well. :daffy: I skied the bump run for 2 hours before calling it a night. Didn’t want to over do it and be hobbling around for another week.

The bumps on the top half of NE were really good. I found a few nice lines and one really good line. Half way down things changed big time. The bottom half starts out with HUGE 10 foot gaps between bumps then gets very tiny gaps at the bottom. I can’t piss and moan too much when I get to ski bumps after work.

The bumps on EX were world class “hero” bumps. You could do no wrong in there. My first run down I was like damn that was easy. Every run after that I felt like Johnny Mosley. The last two runs I approached the bumps at full speed and didn’t even do a speed check before dropping in. The line was so good I didn’t even mind skiing over a few dirt spots. I might have to go back tomorrow after work.

Helmet cam worked great but there was an operator error. I didn’t have it mounted high enough on my helmet so the only thing that shows up is the tips of my skis. I will try to load a short clip of the bottom section. I need to come up with a better spot to mount the cam.

Here is the link to the helmet cam vid from last night. Not the best angle but I think you can make out the skis going through the bumps.

How do I embed the video like the rest of you guys.

Computer savy guy :???:

Cool. Work out that angle and it would be fun to watch especially if you were tailing someone else!
