Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown

Conditions: MGPP, MGFR

Trip Report: Arrived around 4:30, with son Jake, in hopes of catching a run or two before the sun set on the new Gunny bumps. I had a little business to take care of first, i had managed to get a nice gash in the base of one ski last time out so i ran into the Sundown repair shop. I thought it was a minor issue but turned out not to be so. They took care of me right away but the work ended up taking close to an hour. :-? They did a great job and a very fair price. While i waited around i sent jake off to ski on his own.

Finally got on the snow just before 6. My first chair up found GB closed while the groomer came up so a quik run down NE to Ex bumps was chosen. Very strange to see NE not bumped up. EX bumps were pretty good, i think there were probably better a few hours earlier when the sun was out.

Next run up GB was open so we headed over. The view of the bumps from the bottom had been awesome but when i found myself in the middle of the mogul field looking up and down i was beyond impressed. I didn't have my A or B game tonight. I couldn't ski the bumps at all. I finally started getting some rhythm on the top 1/3 but didn't have the skills to ski the rest. Meanwhile Nastar opened up so I got Jake an unlimited ticket. He took numberous runs, scoring bronze repeatedly. He did great for his first real try at the gates, especially considering he's running mediocre (at best) seasonal rentals.

Not a great night but beats sitting around the house surfing the net.

Thanks for the report Gary. Did it seem like they were getting skied in all the way through, or was there still a bunch of funkiness in the lower half?

top 1/3 seemed skied in to me. after that it was not well traveled. i tried to ski it but just couldn't. i shot some video of jake running the gates and got some footage of the bumps. I'll post later. The length of the bumps is incredible. if they get to the same size/consistency/condition as what was on temptor it will be phenomenal. (or RAD if you prefer))
