Iron Maide / Megadeth in Hershey. 14 year old me wants then 49 year old me to go see this. Not too much time left for either of those bands.

I was just in Quebec City to ski Le Massif and as I was bar hopping Thursday night, I met quite a few people up there to see Megadeath/Anthrax the next night. The general sense was that this is gonna be the last go around for Mustaine even if he has not said so officially. Almost went on Friday night but tickets were pretty high $$, I needed to ski the next day, and I plan on seeing them play with Iron Maiden in Sept.

yes this is Mustaine's farewell tour. I suspect he's taking the slayer approach and doing a 15 leg retirement tour LOL. Good for him. I like the early Megadeth music, but I've never liked Dave's voice. I've always been a Metallica guy. I'll give Dave credit though, he's never waivered from trash. At the end of the day he's made a MINT (sure its not Metallica money) and is also considered one of the best. So his woah is me I was kicked out of Metallica shtick is really irrelevant at this point.

TBH I was kind of disappointed that the final song on Megadeth’s farewell album was a Metallica cover (even if he did write the music) … wish he could let it go …

It has chapped him but also fueled him. and yes he helped start Metallica. They may not have been as successful or successful at all if he stayed. There's zero chance he would've had a voice at the table, especially after Cliff died when Lars and James made it their band. They should be happy they found Kirk and that he's cool with just rolling solos over hetfield riffs. I mean its a great gig and its worked for 40+ years! Mustaine would've never not wanted to be that guy...

I haven't listened to his Ride the Lightning version. Its both a tribute and an F You. which is completely on brand...

My understanding is he was a drunk, violent ass back then. So, it's no surprise he got booted.

Scratched Maiden off the list a few years ago. Never seen Megadeth. We will see if I end up going. I also vastly prefer Metallica.

Well, sure. They all partied. It's the violent part that's a problem. And I guess James had a bit of that too. Thankfully both found the recovery they needed to have productive lives

yeah it is good that they both found their way. Dave is apparently a full on born again Christian. Not my thing, but if that's what he needed to do so be it!

A lot of bands break apart when they have to start traveling. its one thing when you are at home and you can go your separate ways. Once you pile into a van and are largely poor traveling the country, peoples annoying habits/personalities, etc. have a way of working their way out. You either come to terms with it or someone gets the boot. In this instance Dave got the boot. His old band became INSANELY popular. His new band also VERY VERY popular. I'd think the born again Christian could see that now and stop complaining about it. Then again, he's been complaining for 43 years or whatever, so its a hard habit to break...

Yeah who would want to live with Dave Mustaine in a van for months on end, LOL. But it annoys me when he gets singled out as the drunk. The way it worked out, we got twice as much music, plus plenty of entertaining petty drama along the way. Happy for Mustaine that he is going out on top, finally getting that elusive #1 album on his 17th and final try. (Apparently he was gutted when Metallica’s black album went to #1 and then Megadeth’s next album Countdown to Extinction “only” went to #2 on the album charts, cementing his little man syndrome.) The twin billing with Maiden should be great, usually Maiden have some boring relative of Steve Harris as the opener. Anyway check out the new Megadeth album its better than anything Metallica has done since 1991.

that's a bold statement. I thought Death Magnetic and Hard Wired were pretty good. The latest is okay. I don't dislike the long song format, I just haven't found anything on that album that I really want to regularly relisten to.
