i didnt know cancer was a sport or something you chose to do. along with pneumonia, poising, suffocating and being struck by lightning.......

falling, however, is rapidly gaining popularity. I hear it may be included in the next X-Games. Gerald Ford will be the corporate sponsor too.....posthumously of course

Skiing is alot safer then riding a motorcycle. I sold my sportster 2 years ago because of people using cell phones while driving.

I think skiing is VERY hazardous to our life because it adds so much more unnecessary dangerous driving hours in questionable conditions. Driving to ski mountain while the snow coming down, there are many occasions that a voice tell me "you shouldn't be going this fast.." but I quickly ignore it and keep on driving to get to the mountain.

Per million what? My guess is that the death rate per participant is much higher for suffocation, drowning, and struck by lightning than falling. Per incidence, much much higher.

I think you're probably right about the trip to the mountain being more dangerous then the skiing.

My employer has many different clubs for sports. When I tried to start a ski club I was turned down. The reason given was skiing was considered too dangerous. I told him that it was less dangerous than sitting around on the couch watching TV.

That is bizarre. We've grown way too risk adverse. Last year, I was trying to arrange a trail clearing day that took us across private property. The owner was OK with it provided each of us sign a release form when we walked across his property. Mind you, we were not working on his property, just walking across it. Then he couldn't decide on the language. We found another, longer way around.:roll:
