Sunday River May 1st
Cloudy,showers/warm 48F
conditions soft corn snow/loose granular
Started out about 9 am hard to get the 2hours from my place with the family for a 8 am start.
I started off by seeing Thaller1 and Ga2ski (new members... active on the Sunday River Board) Gave me heads up that is was misting up top, but good coverage. I got eveyone going at about 9.30. Started of on Sunday Punch found the coverage nice. We then met Ga2ski and Thaller1 for a run. They were nice and hung out with my wife and kids.
We proceeded to to hit RightStuff Monday Mourning and Cascade and . Terry joined us about 10.15 and we grabbed a run. Then headed down to see who would be there for the 10.30 meet up. It was just the folks we were with anyway. So we grabbed a couple more runs and stated to tailgate. We met Gamway 73 another SR board guy who says he has registered here. I'll follow this up. There was a cookout that moved in and back out due to weather. $2dollar beers that was a hit. Just a good fun loving bunch. 11.30ish we all hung together for a bite to eat and called it a season.
Ow ya the skiing. Coverage was much better than last year. Good firm corn snow with a few soft mushy spots. The Sunday River Crew did a wonderful job opening up paths to get us to the lifts and move the snow around so we could all have fun. A buddy of mine who hung out with us called me Sat afternoon and said I can't see how they will pull this off. He was amazed how much work they did to make it fun for us. Props JD and crew it was appreciated very much. Monday Mourning was the best run of the day. The crowds were small we had off and on showers nothing to spoil the event. This get together was about saying goodbye and skiing. Happy and Sad. I had fun. Good crowd. This will be an event I don't think I will ever miss no matter what day of the week is. My Son was very impressd and it made me smile.
