Thanks for the concern. If anyone was at the Lincoln Peak base area on Sat you would know that the snow quality on Sat was miserable, so no there wasn't going to be any out of bounds exploration that day. I did see the entrances to Slidebrook off Lynx and yes they look like typical out of bounds tree runs. Kind of disappointing actually, as the resort touts it as a lift-served backcountry zone. If I were to go back it actually would be much more rewarding to approach it from the Long Trail.

Snow conditions Sat miserable? Ummmm.... not where I was working. C'Rock was pretty sweet. As sweet as it gets.

And I've never seen anything saying Slide Brook is lift-served backcountry. The trail map even says right on it "NO LIFT SERVICE". It also says "GUIDED TOUR ACCESS ONLY".

I went in once, and managed to get back to the lifts relatively easy. We didn't go all the way down to German Flats, instead came out by the cell tower and took Village Run, then hiked the short walk to Out to Lunch to the base.

Slidebrook video from Sunday afternoon.

http://youtu.be/lAsctbRjDu0

Nice! The way streetskier referred to Slide Brook made it sound like weekend warrior terrain for wayward citidiots. I've only been in this area once. Your video highlights the appealing terrain I can remember from 2 years ago. We accessed it from North Lynx and picked up the bus on German Flats road. There are far worse things I could do for an hour and a half...

my kids had me down in about 10 minutes. With the traverses in and out, maybe a half hour total.

and you know what, I am a weekend warrior. Unfortunately, I have to work for a living. Not that I'm complaining, I got in day 38 on Sunday so I have an outside shot at 50.

I was at mt Ellen Saturday and the lower mtn got warm, the snow turning to mash potatoes and sticky. Upper mtn stayed cool enough and dry. Stayed away from the bottom.

Hate to say it, but if you are asking these kinds of questions then you should probably go with someone who knows. I don't think it has happened at SB lately, but folks can easily get lost when skiing OB especially if you're thinking of accessing the BC from the LT. They offer group ski trips (or they used to). I'd try that, especially if you are skiing alone and have never been into Slide Brook let alone Sugarbush.

Seriously...?

This guy probably has way more experience and qualifications than you do. Not to mention slidebrook being pretty mild terrain.

You should read this thread.....

 Oh God, he's back.

Obviously I am not the best goddamn skier on this mountain like you....

And if you did some research you'd see I spend most of my time at Snowbird instead of Alta before you posted. Minor detail there.

Your lucky your knees didn't knock your teeth out. That was ballsy in any condition but it seemed liked a flat landing on packed snow.
