This is kind of a random question, but does anybody know if there is any real Research and Development associated with snow making equipment. It seems like if we can send a radio controlled car to Mars and put a tiny computer chip into someone's arm to branch between two nerves we should be able to make really good snow. I'm immagining the fluffy stuff, not the hail granules found at most places.

If so, prove it.

Sadly I believe that one of the hardest things for science to do is to recreate natural phenomena. Light fluffy snow is just a magical combination of water and cold air that is incredibly hard to reproduce 30 feet from the ground.

That's interesting. I kind of like the do-it yourself model that you can use at home. If I had known about this when I was in 3rd grade, I would have pulled the resources of the entire neighborhood together to buy one for a kid-made snow day.

It would also make for a good practical joke. Immagine completely covering your neighbors car in snow!
