The fact they leave you to your own fun in rooms (cooking, drinking, whatever)its a great place to stay for the price. With a free continental plus breakfast each morning a extra bonus. They have 3 rooms. Big, Bigger, and mini Aprt size

Round trip gas from Bklyn to VT. $75 -$80, maybe another $25-$30 if I drive around alot (avg 28mpg). Lodging $24 a night including breakfast (house supplies all the fixings but I cook), beautiful huge house were I'm usually by myself weekdays. If I ski around avg. lift cost about $40, maybe less. More than 2/3 of my days on on a season pass, per day pass cost so far this year $17.50, will be lower by seasons end (May sometime). Lunch can be anything from leftovers to a $25 bill (usually somewhere in between). Most times dinner is less than $10 (cook myself), eating out is more but infrequent. 5 days skiing in VT. less than $400, often much less. No one chips in but me.

average $3.75 a gallon or so and the dollars pile up at 16 MPG. Having a 30+MPG would be a lot better but I do like my NEW to me Used 2006 trailblazer truck.

The gf has a Trailblazer, and I have an Envoy (same thing), but we do a bit better than 16 MPG.

The big help though, is we fill up in NJ, which is about $3.22 now and always the cheapest in the east. I then calculate the math so that I dont have to fill up in VT or NY and am nearly empty just a bit into NJ on the return trip home.

<---- Incredibly anal/thrifty.

On a recent trip from Virginia to Sugarloaf I paid $50+ in tolls. :sadwalk: Also visited Hunter then Whiteface on that trip and from there took a different way home through Allentown and Harrisburg via Interstate 78 for about $5 in tolls. It might have added 40 mins, but not if you catch any traffic congestion around NYC or NJ.
Snowed Inn is a great place to stay near Hunter. Mom and pop type place and approx $50 per night and you get continental breakfast and access to a kitchen to prepare your own food as well.

Filling up in Jersey helps. Usually stop at the Mobile off exit 20 of the Northway and refill tank. NY gas prices suck but its not a true fill up and I collect stickers for the Skiride program which has some good BOGO's.

For the past few weeks I've been able to buy gas in Rutland for $3.49. Most stations are anywhere from a few cents to a dime more though. I've also noticed that many stations in VT. now give 10 cents off per gallon if you sign up for one of their cards.

Most weekends I'm $70-75 in gas plus tolls back and forth. Most weekends my gas and tolls tab isn't as big as my bar tab ends up being by the time I've had a few with friends ;) It's all relative! :)

I did a trip to Sugarloaf a few weeks ago. It was $419/person for 4 people in a condo for 5 nights and a 5 day ticket. $60 each way for gas and tolls, and around $75/person for food for the week if you cook in the condo, more if you go out. Then tack on whatever you want to spend on booze. Pretty cheap vacation.

Of course, my best one is coming up Thursday. I'm going to Mt. Bachelor for 5 days, 3 days of snowboarding. Flight, transfers, lodging, shuttle to the mountain and around town, lift tickets, rentals (if needed), breakfast, and dinner one night is costing me $500 flat. Add in $50 for gas to get to and from Laguardia, $95 for airport parking, and money for remaining meals and boozing and I'm probably good at around $750 for the long weekend.

Same here minus the tolls. Between the grocery store and après'/eating out the "entertainment" tab always surpasses the gas tab. We did try to institute a après at home policy this season but that really didn't work out.

We got the cost of skiing down to approx. $30 with our passes.

Lodging on the other hand was much more.....

Quad pack at Sugarbush is a no brainer if you know you will go there. 4 tickets, no restrictions for $200.

Also , Hostel tevere in Warren, rates are $35/pp per night I believe. I'd go there if i were just a single person or going with a small group. Best breakfast in town, too.

My cost of gas and tolls is about $65 a weekend. It's easy to avoid a bar tab and have apres ski beers at home when I can get a 4 pack of Heady Topper for $13.49.

Early season I do the same since I'm stuck having to get at least 1 NY/VT fill-up per trip, but the pump is OFF at 8.000 gallons! That way I get 2/3 of a freebie per ski trip. Once I have enough BOGOs for the season I quit that behaviour.

$75 or less for the day trip! We basically can day trip everything in VT, NH and Western ME. Our lift tickets are on the cheap! We bring snacks and food to feed the gremlins and our largest expense is a couple meals and adult bevs $50-100!

We plan on being at Cannon on April 19th then heading to Jay Peak that night for April 20th and got a 2 bedroom condo on a Saturday night for $219 which includes the water park. We have two fers for lift tickets and $75 round trip for gas. It will officially be the most expensive trip of the season. We will bring our own food and beer!

You know, this would be a good mobile app.

Plug in your location. And it shows total cost to ski at different resorts including lift price + gas + tolls.
