Got to wondering if there is anywhere where true, verifiable snowfall totals for the some New England resorts, say for the past 20 years, are posted.

I'd be curious about the true season totals, but almost more curious about, say:

1) Number of 10+ inch storm days, and the months (or dates) they fell.

2) Epic storm systems (say 45" in 3 days, or whatever) and the months (or dates).

3) Especially interested in Jay, Stowe/Smuggs, and Mad River Valley.

Not only do previous posts touch upon the resorts themselves reporting on conditions with widely varying degrees of believability, but annual brochures have oddly interesting snowfall totals (that are lower than I thought for some areas, and higher than I thought for others). The other thing is how great conditions don't necessarily follow high snowfall totals. Confused yet ?

Ah, the joys of statistics and number manipulation. Maybe the Federal and State governments are in charge of making the snowfall numbers "work"...

Smoothie, check out this site:

Tony has the best historical snow data I've found anywhere. It's unfortunate he's located out west, but his eastern statistics are fairly complete.

That's a cool website; I'll have to play with it some more! Here's another interesting one, not exactly ski resort data, but snowfall along the AT, so it hits some resorts (and is just kinda cool to look at): http://friends.backcountry.net/snowmaps/

One thing i would like to know is why on earth does burke get more snow then cannon, or just why doesnt it snow at cannon. I mean they get snow but for there elevation and location you would think they would get way more. :-?

yea, burke totally gets more snow than cannon. it's colder up there so probably less rain-snow issues than cannon. also, a ton of wind in the notch so a lot of snow just never settles down in there.
