1. I was waiting for powder days...

I'll get 2-3 more in by the end of the season, taking Friday and probably 5/1 off.

Once I skip my classes today I should be getting a letter warning me about my attendance. It's all good though only about 2 weeks left worth of classes, and I rather just read the material on my own anyway.

I've only taken two so far in 2009 as the spring season has been slightly disappointing.

I don't get them... I just tell my boss I need off if I can do it.. I work a lot of weird hours and travel during weekends so - we don't keep track..

My whole company pretty much skis.. Everyone knows I live at Hunter so they expect me to do something when it dumps... Unless there's something pressing... Can't walk away from stuff that needs to be done.. Also tougher to get a day off at the end of the quarter...

0 for me. Mostly due to guilt. I could easily have used 5 or 10 sick days and all of my personal days. I am regretting it. Life is too short. Was kinda hoping for a few pow days in March/ Early April. Booo

I think I skied 6 midweek days this season. (All in January)

3 were days I took off from work (1/7, 1/8, 1/9) which were two Personal Days and 1 vacation day...

Then I got laid off on 1/26 and skied 1/29, 1/30, Got offered a job on 2/4, and then figured I had better go skiing on 2/5...

That was pretty much the end of my midweek skiing for this year.

I've got one weekday left to ski, next Friday (4/24) as my company actually gives Patriots' day (MA state holiday for those who are unaware), but I've got some projects to work on on Monday with an emptier office, so I've shifted my day off to next Friday.

I took 3 vacation days and 1 "sick" day.

The sick day is the only one that I regret taking, we got 5" overnight and it was still going strong when I called in sick, but after 2 runs it turned to heavy rain and it was like skiing in wet concrete.

Year 2 with my company and I only have 5 total

oh but I have 5 sick too, but I'm not allowed to use them as I work from home

next year I'll have 10, the following I max out at 15 if I stick with my same company. 15 is reasonable for a years vacation allotment, but still not great.

The thing that sucks most is that I need to give at least two weeks notice, typically a month, to take a day off, so it's not like I can reserve days off for powder days. I either get lucky or I don't.

I hate this thread

I have been with the company for 4+ years and I get 18 vacation days and 3 floating personal days..plus we have 10 paid holidays...not bad..my first year I officially got 6 days and I used them all to go to Jackson Hole. The good thing about working for a small family business is that if we ever need more days, we can take them if we're not busy.

only six paid holidays here. I like my job, the pay and benefits are fair, but the time off sucks. It's better than my old hotel management jobs where I was working mornings, nights, swing shifts, weekends, holidays, 60-70 hours a week with generally only one day off; but it still doesn't afford the work/life balance I desire. Hopefully after another year or so of sales experience from this job I can switch industries and sign on with a company that offers a more flexible schedule. At the end of the day, I'm happy to be employed though.
