Read TR at FTO re: Big Jay Thought I'd start w/ hikes off the Jet/Bonne or, from the base during the occassional wind-hold, for inbounds practice before hiking from 242 to bc stuff.

Splitboard or snowshoe? 90+% in Jay bc area. Boarder wanting to earn a turn or, two. I really enjoy riding my current deck. Getting fairly comfortable w/ lower to mid angle glades in almost all conditions. Steeper stuff I still hop-turn to check speed :dunce: sorry for that occasional barespot.

Leaning towards snoeshoes. Doubt I'll ever be the first one in, more likely following tracks - in & out.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Split... For many reasons..

mainly because it's a more effective way to use your energy while climbing..
But also because snowshoes get hung up in undergrowth and krumholtz while bushwacking..
Also skinnig is easier on steep angles..

But one of the main things for me is - I HATE to have stuff hanging off my pack..

All good points. Going to split my fish. Think that will be great for me.

You are going to "split" your fish? Do you mean you will have the board cut down the middle and install a mechanism to reattach it to go from skinning to riding?
