Went up to Stowe today, and thought everyone might want to know how it fared from the recent deluge. Actually, they didn't get that much rain up there. So the answer is: pretty well.
The drive to the mountain was pretty disheartening. There is NO SNOW in the greater Stowe metro area. Zero. None. We have much more here in south central VT (Okemo/Killington area) than they have there. All the same, what's important is the mountain. And coverage there is still very good.
Today was absolutely glorious. Bluebird skies, no wind, very, very warm. I think I've rarely skied in such warm temperatures. And the snow: well, It's definitely spring skiing. The snow softened up pretty rapidly and by lunchtime it was pretty gloppy, especially down near the bottom. Still, we had lots of fun. I don't know how much longer it's going to last, if these temps keep up. So if you want to go to Stowe, it's like anywhere else: go now.
