11F as I pulled into the parking lot at 0-dark-thirty. The air was crisp
and I fell in love with the way everything creaks again in the cold
air...the squeak of ski boots on cold, dry snow. The sun rose and Mansfield
took on its usual role of looking caked in snow and rime...freezing fog near
the base area also put a touch of rime on the hardwoods from the Toll Road
to the Notch.

They had the guns roaring and you could see them going all over the place.
Centerline opened this morning on ungroomed man-made whales which was about
as much fun as you could have on man-made snow. Its too bad Centerline is
one of Stowe's shorter trails but there were guns going near the entrance
and exit of Hayride...so maybe we'll add that one next week. The snow from
the guns has been surprisingly good with the exception of some stuff near
lower Lord, where the surface is a little more firm. The cold, dry airmass
has been great for snowmaking.

The short beginner, Inspiration, on Spruce opens this week along with
Sunrise and Standard(?) or some similar intermediate terrain is likely to
open Wed/Thurs. The gondola is slated for mid December unless it dumps...I
remember December 6, 2003 when we got that 20-30" nor'easter (Killington had
40 something inches) and they opened the Gondola the next day as soon as
patrol could boo some lower waterbars. C'mon ma nature...
