had some fresh snowfall Sunday am, took a couple of runs before the crowds tracked it out. First time there, liked the fact that pretty much never got into trouble no matter which trail I went down. Had the chance to stay over on Sunday and I'm glad I did. Beautiful blue bird day with light winds, packed powder and no crowds. Does anyone have lodging recommendations for two people that won't cost us $350/night like a condo would?

the lift line lodge or the stratton inn are cheap errr well cheaper, but as far as condos go try the long trail house cheepest you are going to find at stratton. your best bet is to book it through a privit owner IE cyberrentals.com or vbro.com

I've gotten some great ski and stay deals at Stratton, just depends on when you go. Last spring, my family of four stayed for 3 nights at Long Trail and skied 3 days for $450 - that was including lifts for all of us! From here on out, the prices should drop. Long Trail is nice, the Lift Line and the Inn are a little dated and noisy.

Monday at Stratton was fantastic. I went for 2 nights with my family. Stayed at the Long Trail for the second year in a row. Last year they had absolutely ridiculous deals late Feb. We paid $325 for 2 nights in a one bedroom condo at Long Trail (5 minute walk to the main lodge) with a fireplace including lift tickets, and I had 2 free lift tickets from their online promotion for 3 days of skiing. Couldn't find anything that cheap this year, but still went there again.

Place gets panned by all the hardcore skiers here, but it's great for families and intermediate skiers. My 7 year old daughter, who is very petite and timid on skis, did most of the blues without incident. Lifts are great. Friendly people.

I did have an annoying problem on the Sunday. Went to the bathroom in the base lodge at 3:00, came out and my skies were gone. An hour later someone who had grabbed them by mistake and probably taken them up in the gondola put them right back where there were.

I agree. My family loves Stratton. Sure it lacks the steep stuff but the trees are fun and my family ends up skiing 90% of the mountain. My timid 12 year-old daughter gains confidence skiing the blacks there and will venture into some of the easier tree runs.

We love Sugarbush and Stowe, but the last couple years we keep hitting Stratton because their ski and stay deals are almost unbeatable. I guess Stratton is expensive for a day trip full price lift ticket but with all their discounts and packages, it becomes much cheaper than other resorts.
