Date(s) Skied: 4-Feb-11
Resort or Ski Area: Statton
Conditions: PP/Chopped powder
Trip Report:
Just a quick report to say that Stratton was in excellent shape yesterday. Packed powder (the real, soft, squeaky kind, not the firm, slick kind reported by most resorts) just about everywhere on the groomers. A little scraped on the highest traffic trails, but that was very much the exception. Spend almost all our time is bumps and trees, though, which were fantastic. The main glades were mostly tracked out, but the cover was great (what a difference an month makes) and the snow was very soft. Bear Down was lots of fun, though the bumps were a bit smaller and less defined than usual. Nothing a little skier traffic won't solve.
Looks like the forecast is calling for some icing overnight, which could disrupt some great conditions. Hopefully, it will trend a little cooler and keep S VT mostly snow.
