Area skied: Stratton Mountain, Vermont
Date skied: December 6th, 2008 from 8:30am - 1:45pm
Surface conditions: Machine groomed, packed powder
Weather: Sun and clouds, 8F (base) at 8:30am, 26F at 1:45pm
Warren and I where back at Stratton Mountain again today to enjoy the second free day of the season as we both had free lift tickets from the Warren Miller Swag.
We started out our day off of the Starship with a run down Upper Middlebrook which was groomed to perfection and had a stiff and squeaky packed powder surface. Tamarack was next with the same groomed snow. Grizzly Bear to Bear Bottom was a fun groomed double black with people flying down the run.
We took two top to bottom runs down West Meadow which had great packed powder,
two down East Meadow, which had fun whales and three down Drifter which was the ROTD.
All in all a good day, with much better conditions than last weekend as well as less of a crowd.
Snowmaking is ongoing on Upper and Lower Spruce as well as Upper and Lower Liftline. Both trails have deep snow and should open sunday if not maybe a day later.
Snow is also being made in the Sunbowl on the Sunriser Supertrail.
