Date(s) Skied: January 31 and February 1
Resort or Ski Area: Sugarbush- Lincoln peak on the 31st, Mt. Ellen on the 1st
Conditions: It was quite cold on the 31st, with high winds to boot. The snow was nice and fast but icy in spots. The sun came out and it warmed up nicely on the 1st, and the snow softened up a bit as a result- still icy on the steeps, but a much nicer day to be on the mountain.
Trip Report: We skied almost exclusively on Lincoln peak the first day. Murphys Glade (which to my great dissappointment isn't a glade at all, but rather a nice wide cruiser with a few trees in the middle) was quite icy, but its neighbor, Birdland, right under the liftline, was a great run all day. Eden, the glade all the way to skiers right was alright early, but still bare in spots. Deeper Sleeper was the better glade- a few nice little kickers towards the end. The bumps on the lower part of Morning Star weren't bad either- nice and soft. The second day gave us much nicer weather, but the flurries the night before were only a tease- just a dusting. We spent almost the whole day on Mt. Ellen (we missed the two-way lift back...) The Cliffs was icy at the top, but had some decent bumps towards the bottom. Inverness was a great cruiser for going all out on. The highlight of the day though was powder in the woods between Semi Tough and Walt's Trail- just go back under the Inverness lift onto Semi Tough and duck into the woods on the right side There were already some tracks, but it was much better than either of the posted glades, and there was still plenty of freshies to be had. This has been my first trip report... hope its been helpful.... Peace.....
