Resort or Ski Area: Sugarbush

Conditions: thick granular, granular on crust, windpacked

Started out on Paradise, fluffy bumps with icy backsides - the case on most of the mtn. Hit that, ripcord, and the grinder and then headed to Castlerock for a while. All were in the same sort of condition - plenty of new heavish snow, 4-6" I say?, on top a icy/solid crust - not bad. Hit castlerock (good), middle earth (nice), liftline (awesome natural obstacles), rumble and right away went into the woods left of rumble- The snow was kind of too heavy in the trees so that was my last trip to the woods - then did plenty more of liftline and some rumble until my legs were toast. Finished the day on Lincoln doing twist (bumps all the way), stein's run (interesting with all the ice and huge bumps - kept to left), and tons of murphys glade (excellent carvable windpacked with interspersed ice patches - exciting and fun) to lower birdland combo.

Completing some 8s

Liftline goodness - I love picking through the bony stuff - one of my favorite sections of that trail

Rumble - how about the huge rock on the right side with a nice 5-6'er? sweet

Resort or Ski Area: Stowe

Conditions: groomed, dust on crust, breakable crust, powderish

Warmed up on Lord (excellent conditions, no ice patches), did Lookout starting from under the lift a bunch of times - fun with tons of small drops and features, liftline (broken up left, crust right), national (same), bypass (fun), headed to chin clip and did a run in the woods left of (highly travelled), headed back to nosedive and woods (good stuff). spent the rest of the day on nosedive, nosedive woods and the woods in the basin that ends up at the gondola - found some nice drainage chutes and untouched powder - btw, it started snowing midday and just kept on till closing time. Excellent stuff and had lots of fun in the woods.

Some woods

I really dig this steeper drop to the right of nosedive - it was snowing good here

Delicious woods in the basin left of lower nosedive

Untracked small drainage chute just asking for me to rip it up - I saw it untracked from the bottom on an earlier run and made a point to get to the top of it later

ripped up and it was good

Great combo of days - only negative was a sprained (hopefully not broken) thumb - oooh.

Droolage. Tons of base up there. How about a nice 18" dump? Is that really too much to ask? Rumble looks nice!

Sweet two-day combo there! Nice Pics. Very similar to what Killington got. Where's that "ughh" thread again????????????? Some good stuff out there! 12-18" would be nice, and mean an extended road trip............

I was glad they weren't really hurt too much by the mixed precipitation events on Friday. Gas attendant at Brattleboro told me that they had gotten 12" of slush! Just imagine what that would be if it were fluffy powder - ouch to S. VT mountains!

Where's that "ughh" thread again?????????????
Tell me about it! It's good stuff out there and I didn't have to go too far outbounds, if any, to find some real good stuff.

Thanks for the report and pics. I was all over Lincoln Peak on 2/2. Interesting sugar crystal snow and better than expected overall.
