I'll be in the mad river area this coming Friday and Saturday. The plan is to ski Mount Ellen on Friday and then weight the options and either ski MRG, Sugar or potentially Jay on Saturday.

Don't be shy you Sugar/MRG rippers... yes, that means you trailboss.

You mean you're going to miss the going away party I'm throwing in your honor at Blue Mountain on Friday?

You and GSS? Should be a reall blast. "one for me, one for my homies..."

Why not MRG on Friday? Mid-week is the best time to hit Mad River and I suspect Bush North would not be that bad the Saturday before Christmas when most people are lining up at the malls.

I don't know... I was sold by the whole dropping the ropes on Mt. Ellen and nobody has skied it yet talk. Wouldn't MRG be more tracked out than Mt. Ellen on opening day?

I had no idea that MRG was busier than Sugarbush on the weekends.

Steve, you're nuts. Mt. Ellen is going to be amazing on Friday. And I doubt MRG will be that crowded. Last Saturday even with the single chair dedication stuff there were barely any lines. A lot people just don't ski before Christmas even if the snow is good.

Ah, forgot Mount Ellen has not opened yet. That is a total Duh. Maybe MRG on Saturday, undecided at this point. Always nice to hit MRG when the snow is good but maybe Jay since I would be more likely to snuff out two day old fresh untracked there. Tough call considering the NCP moving in for Sunday.

No doubt the malls will be packed but I think so will LP and Mellon. The snow looks very sweet over there. You can almost feel the pentup desire in the air as everyone, me included, is scurrying around to get the place ready for Friday.
After last Saturday at Jay, I have to be skeptical of that. Lots of hype, big storm, lots of news coverage, new snow, etc. but Saturday was abnormally uncrowded at Jay. I am not familiar enough with historical trends for this type of weekend before Christmas, but if last weekend was any indication, people are waiting to get new gear on Christmas before invading Northern Vermont en masse.

I am better on this myself and getting my last turns in before the NCP and Range Rovers hit.

I'll be kicking off the holiday week at Sugarbush from Dec 21-Jan 1. Likely mix it up with a few days at MRG

Has anyone arranged a meet-up for SB or MRG on Sat.? I'm likely ending up at Sugarbush, but I don't know 100% and it's mostly not in my control. If I end up at Sugarbush, I probably would be at least starting off at South, but I could make my way to North for part of the day if necessary.
