Conditions: Powder/ Packed Powder
Trip Report: With the forecast calling for snow to arrive mid-day, I thought I would be the only person stupid enough to get out. Boy was I wrong.
Arrived at the Loaf at 7:45 for an 8:30 chair. King Pine room looked as if it was lunch time. Tons of people there already. There was some high school Mogul comp today. I got in line at 8:00. Was 5 deep in the singles line. The quad lines were already 15 - 20 rows deep. Madness.
Conditions were great. Run of the day was definitely Widowmaker. This was the first time much was open at King Pine so, as you would imagine, it was super crowded. Did a couple runs there. (watched some poor dude fall off the chairlift right after it picked him up)
They opened up the Timberline lift to the summit at 11:00. Only one real run open from the top. Visibility was a bit of an issue but, it was great. The snow went from powder to wind blown to hard pack. If you stayed to the edges or directly in the center, the snow was soft and great. Upper Binder and Tote Road Extension were closed. Did laps on that chair for a bit. It was empty for the most part while the Super Quad was ridiculous.
I managed to snap a few shots.
