Resort or Ski Area: Sugarloaf

Conditions: 1/26: PP / hardpack / occasional powder, around 0 F, partly cloudy
1/27: PP / powder, chop, dust on crust, snowing, 2-3" of very light fluffy new snow in all, single digit temps

Trip Report: Another nice weekend at the Loaf. Saturday, 1/26 we met up with friends. Conditions were just OK on much of the mountain, but the Timberline area seemed to have about an inch new, from where, I don't know. There were lots of guns blowing out light snow. Fun runs were Ripsaw, Powder Keg, Wedge, and various trees.

Today (1/27) we expected it to be in the 20s and sunny, but instead it was in the one's and snowing lightly for much of the day. It was the lightest, fluffiest snow I've seen yet this season. The new snow freshened up everything and made for a surprise mini-powder day. First run we made first tracks down 100 yards or so directly below the Whiffletree lift and admired our work on the way back up. Later I lusted after skier's left of the entire length of Cinder Hoe, but didn't poach it in the end. Fun runs were anywhere we could get ankle-deep freshies along the sides of trails, which was all over the place.

The wintery temps and occasional light snow have kept the Loaf nice. They need a big dump or two to go from "nice" to "epic."

I continue to be a horrible slacker with the camera. Here is our one picture of the weekend, from Powder Keg late on 1/26.
